Tiny Cupboard (take 2)

I visited Tiny Cupboard's fine establishment again. 2nd open mic this year, 2nd time at Tiny Cupboard.

This time, their mic ran as it usually does: in the game room, on a cute little stage. When I went to my first open mic there last week, they had to run the even at the main stage because a few group gaming matches were in full swing -- on board games and card games: their names I'm unaware of.

After a few entertaining sets, with a quirky, dark-humor-tinged, experimental vibe to them, I got up with a new instrument this time. A small, Sonogenic keytar from Japan (sold on Ebay), which delievered to me in record time (after having ordered it only last week). Impressed! I was so happy to get to try it out at Tiny Cupboard's Thursday open mic, which is called, Molly's Mormon Mic. The mormon aspec isn't serious, and is merely for alliteration and the sound of the title, Molly hilariously explained. When I was introduced to the stage, I was delighted that she remembered me, 'cause while I had been there just the week before, I was also now freshly shaved and sporting a mustache instead of a bushy beard.

I started my set with a few one-liners, one of them not going as well as I had planned. But my introduction, saying, "It's Stoddy, not Scotty...because last I heard, Scotty doesn't know. WELL, I KNOW!" went alright. I then segued into asking for a song suggestion. "Epstein's Island" was quick to be offered, which was frustrating because it's everywhere I turn when it comes to suggestions these days, but I worked with it! Same with the second suggestion I got, that was supposed to be "more playful". I got "Butthole".
